أهداف المقرر
|
| |
This course Mathematics III (NE211) aims to provide a basic understanding of matrix methods, first order differential equations, and the application of the concepts of vector algebra in the various application to engineering problems. Students are encouraged to work in groups in tutorial classes where they can apply their lecture material to the solution of mathematical exercises and basic engineering problems. Calculus topics include first-order linear differential equations (DE's), separable DE's, integrating factor, first and second-order linear DE's in engineering applications.

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Perform further differentiation and integration;
2. Apply first and second-order differential equations and differentiation to engineering-related problems;
3. Use matrices to solve simultaneous equations;

1. Students are graded for at least 5 out of 7 homework assignments (Some partial credit will be given for the proper solution method. Answers with incorrect significant derivation, that are illegible, or without the necessary calculation steps will not get full credit).
2. At least TWO quick and short exams.
3. ONE monthly exam.
4. In-class activities are an important consideration.
